Baby Shower Pictures
Well, we’re just about ready to have the baby, and we finally got hold of the pictures from the Baby Shower. So even though I should be downstairs trying to get the house clean, I’m up here on the Mac writing a quick story for the webpage. Mostly ’cause I think some of these are great pictures and I’d love to get them published. 
Back on May 14, Ann Marie and Stephanie, two close friends from work, and Andrea’s mom Katie, hosted a fantastic Baby Shower for us, and invited, oh, 50+ of our closest friends and family. It was a family affair, with kids and husbands welcome, and turned into just a terrific outdoor party. We saw people we hadn’t seen in a long time, and people we see every day. The party was even an opportunity for a long-distance reunion of Matt (who surprised us both when he arrived from England) and Bev (Matt’s friend from Florida who’s living in Virginia for a year).
I really can’t say enough here about how much fun we had at the party. Great friends, great food, incredible weather… We kicked balls around with all the little kids. We laughed as my sister Laura and our friend Kristina (who was also Laura’s sorority sister) met each others’ kids for the first time. We ate too much (well, I did — Andrea was pretty good about it). We also got a lot of gifts. I mean, a lot of gifts. Somehow they packed our Explorer to the top, 100% full, not an inch of space left over. The generosity of everyone was without limit, and we really appreciate everything that was given, from the most elaborate stroller to the simplest hand-knit sweater. But the real gift was seeing so many people having such a great time, and for that we really thank the organizers for all their hard work (and especially for arranging such wonderful weather!)
We now have a CD of nearly 200 photographs, collected from 3 or 4 different people at the party. I’ve posted a smattering of some of the nicer pictures, and the group pictures, here.
